As mesh is all the rage now, I thought that this week I would pay homage to an old friend, the humble sculptie prim. We have had a love-hate relation with the sculptie, haven’t we? The sculptie brought a new level of realism to SL fashion. But it was still a prim. You know the drill. You climb onto the pose stand, and meticulously fit each prim. Then as soon as you hop off, your AO kicks in and ruins everything.
Mesh eliminates the fitting headache; you can’t even move the mesh up or down. And in fact, that is its downside. An article of mesh clothing may or may not fit your shape, and if not, there is nothing for it but to put that fun little dress back on the rack. Furthermore, my friend Bety Dudek observed something. You know how you’ve been subtly tweaking your shape all these years? Fuhggethaboutit – your shape is defined by the mesh.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m TOTALLY excited about mesh, and I applaud the designers who are bringing us mesh clothing. Their job is not easy, considering the range of shapes they must fit their clothes to. And I have been combing the stores, trying to fill out my wardrobe with mesh. But I think that I will still be wearing my favorite sculptie prims for some time to come..
Oh, and for the record, yes, for that piccie I adjusted the jacket prims to fit the pose.

You look amazing. That is a stellar jacket and belt. I’m looking forward to the days when mesh has been perfected, ha, I know anything perfected in sl is kinda funny. But I’m sure they’ll tweak as they go and that I look forward to.

As for mesh, yeah, it's gonna be tricksy to find mesh items that look like they are your shape. Good sides and bad sides to it, definitely. I have faith in our wonderful content creators, though! If anything can be learned from SL tech it's how wondrously amazing people have learned to be while sidestepping and going around tech-limitations. ^_^

Lovely look, and one day mesh will like me. Until then. the right-click and edit buttons are a sculptie’s best friend.
Yea Bourbie so far I think Msh will be at least one more chance for cool outfits. I love it, but that won’t stop me from using regular prims and/or sculpties. And not everything fits me; furthermore, there seems to be a price increase coming with anything mesh… not for all designers but for some.
The outfit looks great by the way and the pic and stuff is perfect 🙂

I think a cool mix will always be the best to fulfill all needs …
i laughed about what you said about standing on a pose stand ..all fits and then wenn you step off the ao kicks in ..lol ..we all know the problem )))) by the way the jacket is realy a good one.. compliments, greetings Nic
