In order to help raise awareness about breast cancer during the month of October, the Pretty Bald in Pink Campaign “will show some of the most important fashion figures on the grid going bald to show support for the cause.”

If I look anything like a fashion figure (prominent or otherwise), it is thanks to the photographic talents of Lulu Breuer.  I wanted to portray a woman who was determined to push herself to her limit to fight back and defeat the cancer.  And that’s what the fitness look is about.  I wanted to honor all of the women who have endured the suffering and treatment of cancer, Both those who have survived and those who lost the battle.  My brother lost his wife to breast cancer 18 years ago this month, and she left behind a young family.  There are far too many stories like this.

Early detection ups your chances of survival.  So have you had your mammogram this year?
